Lopez worked from the early 60′s into the 80′s using a variety of materials, including pencil, pen and ink, charcoal and watercolor.
Above a warrior from Antonio’s sketchbook (early 80′s) and following are some of the famous Missoni ads, created at the peak of his career, around 1985.
Lopez designed advertising campaigns in many parts of the world.Working for and with manufacturers, publications, and retailers with models he had discovered and whose careers he had fostered (Jerry Hall). He also designed jewelry and conceptual fashion items, graphic collaboration on Interview and installations. Lopez pursued various art forms and with his constantly changing, flamboyant style dominates fashion illustration for almost two decades.Some of Antonio’s famous illustrations are portraits of the 80′s major fashion icons, who were more often than not his friends, people like Jerry Hall, Paloma Picasso and Grace Jones.

Antonio Lopez and his friend and partner Juan Eugene Ramos, both died complications related to AIDS (March 1987/ November 1995) He was forty-four years old.

good memories, I met Antonio, in Paris as a student but many years later in his studio on Union square in NY. He was a wonderful as a person, over-gifted illustrator and model mentor. He invited anyone to collaborate, he made me worked foo him on a page for The New York Times. To me he waste Leonardo da Vinci of fashion illustration. Thanks to commemorate his talent.
