The symbol of love and beauty,  packed once more for removal, in anticipation of the outbreak of war. (found here).  Aphrodite of Milos was discovered by a Greek peasant named Yorgos Kentrotas on April 8, 1820, on the Aegean island of Milos.  The following year – at beginning of  the great Greek War of Independence from the Turks-  “The Marquis de Rivière presented it to Louis XVIII, who donated it to the Louvre”…
